About Us

The centre opened in late March 1993 encompassing a 35 place child care service, community open space, and at the beginning of 1995 pre-school groups. These three service components form the Brenbeal Children’s Centre. Brenbeal is the name chosen by the parent Committee of Management, which is a Koori word meaning “Rainbow”.  We are now a 70 place childcare and intergrated kindergarten service.

National Quality Standards “Exceeding”

We have recently received our full assessment report and we’ve come out on top! We achieved an “Exceeding National Quality Standard” rating in ALL seven quality areas. We’d like to thank educators, management and families for being part of the Brenbeal community. Without you all, we wouldn’t have such a wonderful centre.

The Children’s Program:  In 2009 Australia introduced it’s own Early Childhood Learning Framework and the Victorian Government also introduced a curriculum which is identical but extends into the early years of Primary School. The staff work towards meeting the outcomes recommended through play, routines and special activities.  We encourage parent participation in the program and encourage you to speak to staff about how you can be involved.

Healthy Together Achievement Program We are  registered to participate in The Victorian Prevention and Health Promotion Achievement Program, we are currently working though the benchmarks for this program.

Sun Smart: Brenbeal is an accredited Sun Smart service with Cancer Council Victoria.

Centre Tours: The centre holds tours for prospective families on the first (8am) and third Wednesday ( 3pm) of each month. Please call 9317 8244 to book in for a tour.
