Everyone belongs here.

At Brenbeal, we are committed to celebrating diversity and promoting equity and inclusion for everyone and embracing our differences, be it different abilities, family structures, genders and identities.

We celebrate and recognise a number of different cultural events throughout the year through stories, food, art and craft, language and costume. Some examples include Chinese New Year, Easter, Harmony Day, Divali, Holi, Christmas, NAIDOC Week, Chinese Lantern Festival and actively engage with our community to explore other cultural teachings and activities.

IN THE COMMUNITY

Community Partnerships

We pride ourselves on being community minded and working closely with our local community to deliver a variety of initiatives that not only support our Brenbeal community but also our wider area.

We foster a strong sense of community within Brenbeal incorporating many special family and cultural events, sub-committees, opportunities for volunteering, working bees, connection (a dedicated family-only Facebook group) and much more.

Hospital Libraries — Western Health Footscray Hospital + Footscray City College

We established free Community Libraries in the waiting areas at Footscray Hospital. Working closely with students from Footscray City College, we helped establish and maintain two libraries. Children enjoy walking next door to restock the library shelves with books donated by Brenbeal families. They also get to meet doctors and learn about their work during the visits.

Community Veggie Garden — Bunnings West Footscray + Braybrook Men's Shed + Footscray City College

We initiated a community veggie garden at our centre. Bunnings West Footscray supported us by providing quality timber while Braybrook Men's Shed helped to build three planter boxes. When Footscray City College found out we had installed new veggie planter boxes, the school was keen to provide plants, and even visited to help the children put them in.
